Privacy

This is a static website: plain files, no database, no accounts, no forms, no comments. This page says what that means for you. It describes how the site is built; it is not legal advice.

What the site does not do

  • It sets no cookies.
  • It has no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no social-media buttons.
  • It loads no fonts, scripts or images from other websites.

What it does keep

  • Server logs. The company that hosts the site keeps routine server logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser). I do not use analytics or any other tool to look at your visits.
  • Your theme choice. The dark/light button stores your choice in your browser's local storage (under the name theme). It stays on your device, is never sent to me, and is not a cookie. Clear it in your browser's site-data settings.

Players and videos

Video and music players are not loaded until you click them. Until then your browser makes no request to the company behind them: the pictures on the video tiles are copies stored on this site. After you click, you are connecting to that company: it can see your IP address and your browser details and may set cookies. Their own privacy policies apply. What happens after a click, platform by platform:

  • YouTube. Videos are YouTube players (youtube-nocookie.com). Nothing is requested from YouTube or Google until you click a video. After the click, your browser contacts YouTube and Google servers (video, scripts, fonts and images), which receive your IP address, browser data and the address of this site, as on any site with a YouTube video. In our tests (Firefox) no cookies were set, but the player saves a few small settings in your browser’s local storage (for example your connection speed), without identifying you. You can clear them in your browser. Our site sets no cookies and has no analytics.

  • Bandcamp. A click on “Load player” opens a Bandcamp player. Bandcamp can see your IP address and browser details and may set cookies.

Shows list

The list of shows on the Music page comes from a public calendar. My web server fetches that calendar on a schedule and saves a copy; your browser only talks to this site.

Lab pages

The pages in the Lab are single files that run entirely in your browser. They make no requests to any other website, and nothing you type or choose in them (a sequence, an angle, a picture) leaves your device. The Sequence Circle remembers its settings in your browser's local storage (under the name sequenceCircle.v1) so that they are still there next time; that stays on your device too.

Links to other sites (shops, social networks, articles) take you away from here. I do not control what they do.

Email

If you write to me, I receive your email address and your message, and I use them to reply. The address is not shown in the page source; a small script assembles it so that automated harvesters do not collect it.
